Another Update (Who Cares)
Jan. 17th, 2019 09:56 pm I've been mostly concerning myself with finalizing details on my Fallout 4 rewrite, Fallout: Commonwealth; which is now, I feel, close to actually being in a place that I can start actually writing instead of just planning.
Most of the decided-on details have remained the same, except that the Sole Survivor won't join the Brotherhood of Steel. Otherwise the faction is unchanged from previous decisions.
The faction that did, however, radically change from my last journal entry is the Minutemen, however. I abandoned the previous plans with them and decided to instead approach the faction from a far more constructive standpoint, and deal with the many issues they had in Fallout 4. This also gives me a lot more storytelling freedom than the BoS would have offered, while the new approach on the BoS conversely gives me more leeway to explain why some of the Mintuemen's logistical changes.
A lot of the story is naturally inspired by my own experiences playing a heavily modded Fallout 4; which are just cherished memories now that my gaming PC is busted.
But yeah, I think overall the story has evolved from a ruthless teardown of Fallout 4, and into a genuine effort to craft a better story out of what the game offered, and will be genuinely better for it.
Rhona (scotsdragon) suggested an episodic approach to the fic, turning it into an ongoing series, and I think it's a good idea. Have the overall story of the game's events driving things for awhile, and then keep going with wacky adventures based on the sidequests and stuff.
