Maybe Coming Back
May. 17th, 2019 12:56 pmSomething happened on Tumblr where all of my friends and mutuals started abandoning me. I don't know what caused it, but the site in general is so unforgiving over even the tiniest transgressions that I think someone was spreading lies about me.
This caused me so much distress that I deactivated, and I won't be going back to Tumblr.
I might post some of my thoughts here, just to have somewhere to speak into the void.

I'm giving up on Dreamwidth, and I've decided to go back to Tumblr under a new url. Find me here:

Rush Keating, if you ever read this, I hope you return to Tumblr some day as well.
Bye, everyone. Wish things had worked out better than they did.

Another Update (Who Cares)
Jan. 17th, 2019 09:56 pm I've been mostly concerning myself with finalizing details on my Fallout 4 rewrite, Fallout: Commonwealth; which is now, I feel, close to actually being in a place that I can start actually writing instead of just planning.
Most of the decided-on details have remained the same, except that the Sole Survivor won't join the Brotherhood of Steel. Otherwise the faction is unchanged from previous decisions.
The faction that did, however, radically change from my last journal entry is the Minutemen, however. I abandoned the previous plans with them and decided to instead approach the faction from a far more constructive standpoint, and deal with the many issues they had in Fallout 4. This also gives me a lot more storytelling freedom than the BoS would have offered, while the new approach on the BoS conversely gives me more leeway to explain why some of the Mintuemen's logistical changes.
A lot of the story is naturally inspired by my own experiences playing a heavily modded Fallout 4; which are just cherished memories now that my gaming PC is busted.
But yeah, I think overall the story has evolved from a ruthless teardown of Fallout 4, and into a genuine effort to craft a better story out of what the game offered, and will be genuinely better for it.
Rhona (scotsdragon) suggested an episodic approach to the fic, turning it into an ongoing series, and I think it's a good idea. Have the overall story of the game's events driving things for awhile, and then keep going with wacky adventures based on the sidequests and stuff.

What I've Been Up To (8 January)
Jan. 8th, 2019 07:00 pm I admit that I haven't been using this site as much as I had planned, and I will be honest that I think Dreamwidth has some problems. Most noteworthy is that I feel like not many people see posts on your own dash at all, and that to get anywhere you need to post to groups instead. I've noticed Samantha (samanthathesapphicsiren) hasn't really posted anything since Boxing Day, probably because of similar sentiments.
But anyway... for the most part I've been battling a serious surge in my chronic illness for the last two weeks, which is fortunately appearing to have begun to subside. I don't feel like I'm gonna drop dead, and I'm not in crippling pain, so that's a plus in my book.
Me and Rhona (scotsdragon) have been working on various projects in the meantime; mostly a long-overdue return to fanfiction writing. Rhona has been working on some Forgotten Realms stuff, with me providing a little help here and there, and I have been working on yet another incarnation of the Fallout 4 rewrite I've wanted to make since 2016. It's tentatively called Fallout: New Commonwealth, though I may drop the "new" part. We'll see.
Among other things, it includes proper acknowledgement of the Sole Survivor's military background, Sarah Lyons as the Brotherhood Elder, and the revelation that the Brotherhood of Steel are secret tabletop nerds. Also, a plot that isnt completely nonsensical, the BoS not pulling a giant airship out of their asses, and a ruthless deconstruction of the Minutemen and their patrotic nostalgia and settler/colonialism.
This effort builds on my previous attempts at a rewrite, so who knows, something may actually come of it this time.

Communities and Stuff
Dec. 5th, 2018 12:04 amI see a lot of communities I'd be interested in joining, but many of them haven't had any activity in several years. Is there a point in trying to revive, dare I say necro, an old community, or would it be better to just start a new one from scratch?
I mean, maybe old communities could be revived if a lot more people come over here from Tumblr, but I'm just trying to get a grasp on the local etiquette.

Yet Another Tumblr Exile
Dec. 4th, 2018 09:56 pmHey everyone, I'm Cydonian Mystery, a genderqueer trans woman from Louisiana. I go by Susanna, and my pronouns are she/they. :D
I'm... kind of a Tumblr exile, and kind of not. See, I deactivated my account less than a week before the NSFW Ban was announced and the Tumblr Exodus actually began; I guess I saw the writing on the wakk, but I had no idea how bad things were about to get... O.O
But a long-time friend, scotsdragon, suggested we make accounts here on Dreamwidth, and I immediately felt like I could make a new home here. :D The site has been quite welcoming to us ex-Tumblr folks, and that's a huge relief.
I know I probably posted a lot about politics and stuff on Tumblr, but honestly, I'm willing to leave that behind if need be. I'm chronically ill, not exactly getting better, and there's only so much anger at the state of the world that I'm able to take at one time.
So I'm perfectly happy to put this account to other uses, like focusing on my interests in writing and tabletop game dev. I've been plugging away at a TTRPG project for over a year, and that's a far more productive use of my time. <3
